Cardiff move into the play-offs after winning a very scrappy game. The win moves Cardiff into sixth place. We are 5 points behind fifth placed Huddersfield and 1 point ahead of seventh placed Bristol City who we have a game in hand over.

The game as a whole was a scrappy affair but the same cannot be said about the goals. The first goal was a brilliant piece of skill. Danny Gabbidon met the ball at the front post with a lovely flick. Although the goal was credited to Leo Fortune-West the Cardiff fans behind the goal didn't see Leo touch it.

The bluebirds defence was never troubled by the home side, as the whole Chesterfield side seemed to have the passing skills of Leo Fortune-West. Several times Chesterfield got themselves into good attacking positions only to shoot themselves in the foot with abysmal passing and crossing.

Cardiff suffered a blow when the highly influential Andy Legg hobbled off with what appeared to be a calf injury. Leggs replacement was the returning Mark Bonner. Bonner and Boland started to take control of the midfield and it was Bonner who started the move for the second goal.

He picked up the ball on the left and cut inside, he then knocked the ball out left to Leo Fortune-west who put a beautiful cross into the box. It was straight into the path of Peter Thorne but he was unable to capitalise and the ball bobbled loose in the penalty area, befor Andy Campbell controlled, turned and then fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom right of Nathan Abbeys goal.

There weren't very many chances created for the rest of the half as Chesterfield continued to squander possesion and Cardiff seemed happy to keep the score at 2-0.

The biggest disapointment of the match for me was at half time. I went to the burger stand to find that they had sold out of both burgers and hotdogs.

The second half started as the first had ended. With both teams unable to sting together any decent passing moves. Chesterfield did manage to get the ball into the back of the Cardiff net once in the second half.

Chesterfields number 8 Burt (whose name amused a lot of city fans). Knocked a corner into the box from the Chesterfield right which was finished in some style by a Chesterfield player.

Fortunately or Cardiff the goal was disallowed. It took a long while for the Chesterfield fans to realise that the goal had not been given. The Chesterfield fans celebrating a goal that didn't stand was the main source of entertainment in an otherwise dull second half.

I would give the man of the match award to big Leo who ran his heart out and played well.

Another mention aswell should go to the Chesterfiled burger bar. With quarter of an hour left I decided to get a chocolate bar only to find that the burger bar had closed.

A special mention at the end to the city fans. Once again they showed their fantastic support as over 1700 travelled to Chesterfield.

WERE IN THE PLAY-OFFS!!!!!!
