Cardiff City chairman Sam Hammam has dismissed as 'nonsense' claims that he sacked managerial duo Alan Cork and Ian Butterworth after the FA Cup defeat at Tranmere.
Reports from Prenton Park claimed Hammam had made the dismissals after being refused permission to sit on the City bench during the match - which Cardiff lost 3-1 - and then stormed off.
But the Lebanese-born businessman told BBC Sport Online: "I don't know where these stories came from. They are laughable and utter nonsense.
"I was angry because I usually sit on the bench - it's something I have done throughout my life - but a senior Tranmere official decided not to put my name forward.
"I was not happy, but to suggest from this situation that I had dismissed Alan and Ian is a crazy story," he added.
"I did leave the ground about 15 minutes into the second half, but that was because I am not a great fan of cup football."
Hammam said he had spoken to his managerial team after the match, but only to discuss players' contracts.
"We have been so busy with the Leeds situation and the new stadium that we have had to arrange meetings. And that is what we were doing," he said.
