Leo Fortune-West doubled the lead on twenty one minutes when he headed in an inswinging corner from Andy Legg from six yards. Within two minutes Cardiff had scored again. This time Cardiffs equivalent of Ade Akinbiyi, Peter Thorne scored at the near post.
Just before thirty minutes Cardiff were unbelievably four goals up. On loan Andy Campbell scored with a low shot from inside the six yard box. Campbells celebrations were a bit extravagant and they resulted in him getting booked by the referee and having a pie chucked at him by an Oldham fan.
It was Oldham however who had pie on their face as on half time Leo Fortune-West scored his second of the afternoon with an 18 yard header, again the cross was from the sensational Andy Legg.
